2023 Cooperstown Experience

The Cooperstown Dreams Park National Tournament is the Showcase Tournament for the 12U Halfmoon Mariners Baseball Program. For the 2023 Halfmoon Mariners, it was a memorable journey that the players, families, and coaches will never forget. To be honest, none of us knew what it was all about until we went to the tournament as spectators to support the 2022 Mariners team during their Cooperstown experience. Our boys saw a game winning home run that jumpstarted the 2022 Mariners team to a top-16 finish against national level competition. That was it. We were hooked and could not wait to get back to Dreams Park to compete in 2023.

It was a lot of work and a huge commitment from the coaches, the players, and the families. The team played well against a very difficult 96-team tournament field, won two pool play games (one on a walk-off grand slam in extra innings), and advanced past the first round of the playoffs. The Mariners also beat out 95 other teams to win the Around the Horn Plus Skills Championship! Those experiences on the field will be with the boys forever. More importantly, off the field was equally memorable. Whether it was pin trading, constant wiffle ball games, introducing Cooperstown to Jingl, or sitting in the bunks and just hanging out, the boys lived in a truly immersive team atmosphere that is unlike anything they have or will ever experience. They represented themselves and the town of Halfmoon with pride. So, was it all worth it? Pictures are worth a thousand words.
